Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 A man wakes up in his bed in Worcester, Massachusetts and finds that he overslept. He quickly gets dressed and leaves his mom at his home while he goes to work. He changes into his uniform and looks at a newspaper ad that he taped on his locker door that reads, ‘Be more Confident.’
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 He goes to the package warehouse and stacks some boxes, but can’t resist looking at his phone containing pictures of a woman performing office duties. His boss sees him and gets angry for both being late and also wasting time. He is sent to make deliveries and grabs an electronic clipboard, but it shorts out in his hands.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 He goes to an office building while trying to build up his courage for a big moment by listening to music on his cassette player. His opportunity for romance arrives when he walks up to the office’s receptionist desk and hands a package to the woman pictured on his phone. She barely knows him and he wants to ask her out, but one of her male co-worker appears and invites her to drinks after work. He becomes jealous and the woman’s computer starts to crash as he leaves.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 He passes by a pale hairless man, gets into an elevator and the doors start to close, but the receptionist gets on in the nick of time. She bumps into the delivery man causing him to drop his phone.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 While going to pick it up she sees that the man, who she only shares a brief professional relationship with, has pictures of her on his phone. She becomes creeped out and uncomfortable during the elevator ride down. He has trouble trying to find words explaining why her image is kept with him when suddenly, the elevator begins to shake then suddenly fall, causing it to crash into the basement floor.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 The delivery man survives, but he finds all of the other elevator passengers, including the receptionist, killed. He gets up and runs through the basement parking garage, causing car alarms and engines to activate.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 Later, Agent Olivia Dunham meets with Agent Charlie Francis and tells him about her meeting with John Scott the previous night. She says that she saw him at her apartment, then she pulled her gun and he was gone. Charlie tells Olivia not to beat herself up and next time she sees him, try to be friendly.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 Phillip Broyles later contacts Olivia and the Fringe team and tells them about the elevator incident. He says that it is similar to an event in Japan. Doctor Bishop believes that the incident may have been caused by a powerful and precise discharge of power. They arrive at the scene and Bishop determines that the victims show symptoms of electrocution. The doctor takes Olivia’s necklace and dangles it in the air then releases, and it floats. He explains that the levitation is due to a residual electromagnetic energy in the elevator. He believes that the elevator’s passengers were killed before it hit the ground. The team later returns to the lab and finds that the person responsible may have the ability of amplifying an electromagnetic field.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 Meanwhile, the delivery man returns to work. He meets with his boss and tells him that he is having a bad day. The boss does not want to hear it and fires him, then turns to work on some machinery. The delivery man gets upset, the machinery activates and pins down and cuts into the bosses arm, causing him to scream.
Fringe Season 5 Episode 2 Later, Olivia is working alone late at night when the power goes out. She hears a elevator door open and goes to investigate with a flashlight. She goes to the elevator and finds John Scott inside. He approaches saying that it is okay. He asks Olivia to trust him and that she is on the right track following the lead of Fisher. He goes into the elevator and heads down. Olivia chases him using the stairs and gets down to the next floor. She opens the elevator and finds that John is not there.
